MeRadio for Android phones was unveiled during the HTC Celebrate ME Launch Party last night. The application by MediaCorp Pte Ltd is said to be exclusive only for HTC Wildfire, Desire, Legend and Hero users who are on Android 2.1.
The application includes a list of pre-defined MediaCorp radio stations which include the following:
- 938LIVE
- 987FM
- Class 95FM
- Gold 90.5FM
- Lush 99.5FM
- Symphony 92.4FM
- Capital 95.8FM
- Love 97.2FM
- Y.E.S. 93.3FM
- Ria 89.7FM
- Warna 94.2FM
- Oli 96.8FM
- Expat Radio 96.3XFM

- Song display
- Lyrics for selected songs
- Album art display
- Background player enabling for multi-tasking between applications
- (lol, the above doesn’t count as a feature man! xD)
- Twitter and Email
- Call station
Well, for those who do not know me yet, I’m a HTC Hero owner, as well as a Nexus One owner. Due to some aesthetic reasons, I have not updated to Hero 2.1, and I’m still on 1.5 using MoDaCo 3.2 ROM. I have downloaded the application from the HTC website using my IMEI and I’ve also tried using my friend’s IMEI to get the application and they are identical as CRC check confirms. The application works fine on 1.5 and can play through the speaker, hence, I’m posting it up for you guys to try out. I have yet to try it on my Nexus One yet, but I’ll update this post as soon as I’ve done that.

Reliable reports from Twitter users that it works on Samsung Galaxy S and Nexus One! It’s likely that it’ll work for all Android phones since it already worked on 1.5, and it doesn’t seem to be restricted to Sense ROMs only as it’s running on CyanogenMod as reported by a few users using Nexus One! Hi Steve, Miguel and Suresh! Thanks for letting us know! We’re now pretty sure it works on all Android devices and on all ROMs with all these reports. It’s just weird that they didn’t release this on the Market, otherwise they can update this application over the Market. I also note that the version that’s downloaded from their site shows up as version 1.0, but their website states 1.1 instead.

what’s new on version 1.1? anyone know?
Hi mysky911, there isn’t really a 1.1. The website states that there’s a 1.1, but infact the apk downloaded from the website states 1.0 when we ran it on our devices. It’s a mistake by HTC or whoever that’s running the MeRadio website. I personally still feel that they should release it to the market instead of making it exclusive…
